Nicki Minaj said she hopes to see a gay rapper in the near future. “I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so hip-hop is, too.”

“It’s harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced,” she said. “People view gay men as having no street credibility, but I think it will happen in my lifetime.”

Rihanna is rumoured to shoot a music video for “Te Amo” next week in Paris, France. Several radio stations from European countries are starting to play the song. Just like “Hard” was released only in the US, the same might happen to “Rockstar 101″, while “Te Amo” will be released in the rest of the world. Hopefully, Rihanna’s label is going to release an official statement soon.

Lauryn Hill "Possibly" Working On New Album?

A new Lauryn Hill album could be on the horizon. 

The former Fugees member offered a "yeah possibly" when asked by a TMZ cameraman if a new album was coming out. She did not give any further details when approached by paparazzi after a night of dining out.

Her most recent album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was released in August 1998 and debuted at number one on the U.S.Billboard 200. More than 420,000 copies were sold in the first week, breaking a record for the most sales in the first week by a female artist.

She was nominated for 10 Grammy Awards in 1999 and became the first female to win five in one night. Her album has sold more than 8 million copies in that U.S.

Rumors of a new album have lingered for more than five years, with an original release date set in November 2005. However, nothing has been released. 

Mariah Prepares For Christmas Album.

As reported a few weeks ago, Mariah Carey has returned to the studio to work on a new album. The news encouraged a wave of speculation among her fans as many wondered whether she was indeed working on a new studio album or a Christmas album as the decision regarding which project the diva will be undertaking was yet to be finalised by her management. However, according to MariahDaily, famed photographer David LaChapelle has confirmed that Carey is in fact working on a Christmas album.

Nevertheless, LaChapelle’s news does not mean that Carey may not be working on both a Christmas project and a new studio album as well. Having entered the studio with Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Johnta Austin, Teddy Riley and now Randy Jackson, a studio LP seems to be a strong possibility. Possible release dates for the project(s) have yet to be scheduled.

M.I.A. Goes Electro-Punk With New Song

A track from M.I.A.’s upcoming June release surfaced online today, the punk-leaning “Born Free.” We’re not quite sure what to make of the disjointed track, although any criticisms we have of it would pale next to the complaints M.I.A. has reserved for her musical peers (and pretty much everything else). This is definitely a new direction for the artist—with the heavy, ecstatic drums and the slightly off-pitch speak-singing vocals, it sounds like a straight-up punk song with just a dab of electronica. Whereas we could gladly bob our heads to the much more palatable “There’s Space For Ol Dat I See” (a slow, groovy electro-tinged track that surfaced last January), the raucous “Born Free” (co-written by with Suicide’s Alan Vega and Martin Rev) comes off unpolished. 

But this is hardly a “new” song—here she is performing the track at Cali music fest Street Scene in 2009, and it’s no more easy on the ears than the studio recorded version:

Diddy Rooting For UK Rappers

Diddy has declared that he is "rooting for the UK" after teaming up with Tinchy Stryder and Tinie Tempah.
The rapper, who is currently gearing up to release sixth studio album Last Train To Paris, revealed that he has secured the services of the young UK stars for a remix of his single 'Hello Good Morning'.
Diddy told RWD: "I'm actually rooting for the UK. I love the UK, I love the artists, the vibe, the style, the swag. I think Tinie is doing something for us but not on the grime mix. He's on one of the UK remixes of 'Hello Good Morning' with Tinchy Stryder."
He also said that he is now hoping to enlist producer-rapper Skepta for a grime remix of the track, taking to Twitter to ask him personally.
Diddy explained: "I want Skepta to do a straight, dirty, authentic grime remix where I redo the vocals, the beats and everything. So I hit up everyone on Twitter and Skepta hit me right back. He was buggin'.
"I think that's happening organically. It's not pre-meditated. I didn't, like, go and give it to some A&Rs and say, 'Go get me Skepta'. This was designed by God and by the people. I put it on Twitter, people hit me back, I got at Skepta, we had a vibe on the phone. I said, 'I don't know what's gonna happen with it, but we're gonna try and make it happen'. It's serious though, it's definitely something we're going to be getting into."
Diddy - owner of New York's Bad Boy record label - also hinted that he is close to signing a British rapper he describes as "London's best kept secret", but would not be drawn on the identity of the mystery artist.

Lindsay Lohan: A Rolex Thief?

We really have been ignoring Lindsay Lohanfor awhile now, so it must be time to check in on her: Oh look, her dad had the cops storm her apartment and she's accused of stealing a $35,000 Rolex. She's doing about the same, then.

Multiple news outlets reported that Friday morning Michael Lohanhad sheriff's deputies raid her L.A. apartment looking for her 16-year-old sister Ali, and LiLo was so upset she detailed everything via her Twitter account, @lindsaylohan: "“my lawyer isn’t answering I NEED A RESTRAINING ORDER! MY SISTER AND FRIEND TOO!!!!! HE’S NUTS!!!” my BUILDING didn’t STOP him, isn’t it supposed to be safe? THAT’S WHY I MOVED HERE! it coulda been FAKE cops! dressed up… let’s not forget, that my father KIDNAPPED me from a COURT ROOM when i was 4 years old and is CRAZY," she wrote over the course of several tweets. Thanksgiving must be a hoot in that house.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Us that the "found no evidence of abuse" with regards to Ali, and an earlier visit to Lindsay by authorities had the actress denying the Rolex charge, in which a "friend" left the watch at her house and never got it back. Haven't people learned not to go to any Lohan abode under any circumstances?

"Twilight" To Eclipse The Oprah Show On May 13th

On the day Oprah Winfrey premiered the new trailer forThe Twilight Saga: Eclipse on her program, word arrived of an even bigger vampire invasion next month.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart,Taylor Lautner, and Dakota Fanning are all scheduled to appear on “Oprah” on May 13 to promote Eclipse.

Pattinson, Stewart, and Lautner appeared together on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” back in November for New Moon.

JLS Make Us TV Debut

British boyband JLS made their US television debut today on NY PIX 11, performing new single ‘Everybody In Love’.

From our standpoint, this was another ‘by-the-numbers’ performance of the song (which, as UK’ers, we’ve seen a million times already). However, we’re really keen to hear what folk think of the Jive-signed group’s first live American showing.  Peep their performance below…

As soon as Timberlake signed on for that Bad Teacher role, it was pretty much accepted there would be more rumors then any of us would care to read, discussing the state of Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake. Well, the tabloid fiction writer wizards have not let us down. It seem Cammy has left JT smitten.

“Cameron and Justin have been back together for the past couple of weeks and he’s definitely ended with Jessica,” a source told the UK’sNow magazine. “For him, it’s totally a new beginning with Cameron. He really wants things to work this time around and he’s even talking about spending the rest of his life with her.”

Akon & RedOne On Lady Gaga Upcoming Album

Pop feuds, crazy cover versions and a slew of remixes—sure it’s all entertaining, but what Lady Gaga’s monsters really crave is new music from their patron pop saint. We’ve gotten little hints here and there about the material she’s recording for her third album, via tweets from producer Fernando Garibay and soundbites from Gaga herself. But now Akon, who signed her to his Kon Live label, and Gaga’s frequent collaborator RedOne have opened up about “bigger and better” new music. Catch what they had to say below!

First off, the extremely modest RedOne tried to play it cool with MTV when they asked about Gaga’s new material. “That you should wait for,” he said with a laugh. But he did offer this: “When it comes out, you’ll be like, ‘Oh my God, you know? … We kept what Gaga is.”

Gee, don’t give too much away, RedOne. Thankfully Akon was more forthcoming with VIBE.

“I’m flying out to Europe to work on some new records with her. Gaga’s just like me. She has a tour bus with a studio in it,” the horny lyricist said. “Some of the songs I’ve heard are going to be crazy. She’s getting bigger and better.”

Hmmm. So far we now know that Lady Gaga’s forthcoming jams are a) what Gaga is, b.) crazy, and c.) bigger and better. Anything else, Akon?

“All I’m doing at the end of the day is listening to the tracks Gaga has written and approving them for her album. She has producers that she works with outside of myself and they are coming up with some incredible records,” the “Nosy Neighbor” crooner tells VIBE. “But the beauty of it is she knows exactly what she wants. So it just makes it easier for me.”

Yeah—easier to collect that bank, he means.

Sandra Bullock To File For Divorce This Week?

Sandra Bullock is about to come out of hiding, according to Popeater.

After being spotted hiking in Northern California earlier this week, a friend of the actress tells the website, "She needed time away to sort everything out by herself. Now, she is ready to stop hiding and start fighting back."

After reports of James' infidelity broke last month and the alleged mistresses have began speaking out, Popeater reports that Sandra is expected to file for divorce later this week.

"It's over between Sandra and Jessie," the friend continued. "For a while, it looked like she was going to forgive him but not now...way too much has happened and after spending time alone, Sandra has realized that she deserves better. It's not going to be easy but she's an amazingly strong lady. Don't worry, she will survive."
